About

Pistorum Consulting, London

Pistorum Consulting was founded with the sole aim of helping clients through digital transformations that often are outside of the remit of the in-house resources.

I help marketing teams understand the technologies that can be used to drive sales, engagement, and customer interaction.

I help define the project and delivery schedule to the design and development teams in a way that is optimal and achievable.

I’ll also work with third party vendors and agencies that specialise in the specific areas that you’ll need to achieve the transformation.

Digital Transformation Consultant

James Derry

I come from an engineering background and am very comfortable with technology and digital architecture. I have also spent over 30 years in marketing and product marketing. This unique blend of business and technology allows me to bridge the gap between the business drivers in an organisation and the technology that is required to achieve the goals.

I have worked in start-ups and also large organisations so I understands the challenges of matching budget with ambitions, recognise the value of experimentation and prototyping to test ideas, and know how to communicate with all levels in an organisation from board-level stakeholders to the teams on the ground.

Pistorum - the miller

Where does the name Pistorum come from?

Pistorum is Latin for ‘to mill’ or ‘grind’, Pistor also means ‘Baker’ or ‘Miller’. In the early 17th century farmers used to pound their grain (grist) by hand which was clearly time consuming and very labour intensive. To solve problem, many towns built Grist mills where all the farmers would bring their grist to be quickly milled to flour and middlings. Grist mills were very sustainable, running on the power of wind or water.

Pistorum is analogous for this act of passing a problem on to a specialist who could solve the issue quickly using bespoke tools or skills. But its also the act of ‘grinding’ through a difficult task to provide a solution that benefits both parties and helps to increase yield and sales!

If you have a resource intensive problem that you’d like us to help ‘grind’ through then get in touch.
